Career Summary

Dr. Jakia Akter has been contributing to the Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) since 2005, working across various divisions, including Water Resources, Climate Change Study, and River, Delta, and Coastal Morphology. Her extensive expertise spans river morphology, delta development, coastal dynamics, and water and environmental management. Over her career, she has undertaken numerous geomorphological studies focusing on Bangladesh's major rivers and coastal regions.

Notable accomplishments include her contributions to the development of the book "Rivers of Bangladesh", a morphological study of the haor region, a geomorphological analysis of the Arial Khan River, century-scale dynamics of the Bengal delta, sediment dispersal processes in the Meghna estuary, and the evolution of the Bengal Delta. Her research has been featured in various books, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed journals, highlighting her analytical and communication skills, creativity, and leadership.

Before joining CEGIS, Dr. Akter gained valuable experience at Global Water Partnership and Asia Pacific University.
